DAT>44.1khz 16bit wav

-DATS are either mastered at 44.1khz or 48khz.
-To transfer them to a Hard Drive you will need a soundcard with a Digital input and either Sound Forge or Cool Edit Pro.
-The most commonly used sound cards are the TB Fiji and ZA2.
-All are different, so read your manual.
-Connect your DAT to your sound card via Digital Cable.
-Open Sound Forge or Cool Edit Pro.
-Start Recording at 44.1k 16bit .wav on your PC, then start your DAT Playing.
-Record the entire set (Be sure you have disc space.)
-Save the set.
-Go through and write down song breaks to the .001 sec (in case of system crash.)
-Start at the end and select and copy the last song.
-Paste into new and save.(Example: WSP98-07-31D1T08.wav)

-Convert to .shn files and archive.

[.wav>.shn]

.wav>.shn

-.shn is a lossless audio compression format used by many traders.
-I use mkwact to convert to .shn, its free.
-Install MFC Runtime Libraries, then the program.
-Open the Program.
-Open the folder where your .wavs are and rename them.
(Example: PHNYE00-01-01D6T04.wav)
-Select all of your tracks and dragg them over mkwact holding the shift key then drop.
-It should say encoding /PHNYE00-01-01D6T04.wav>.shn.
-When each .shn is finished it will write a summary of that track to noname.md5
-When a disc is finished check the .md5 file in the folder.
-If all the .shns check out Archive them. One average show fits on 2 CD's easy.
-Then you can copy .shns to and from your HD for trades.
-To convert from .shn>.wav you just drag and drop them into mkwact (not holding Shift.)
